Foxes’ Retreat

is run by Myszka Fox, helped significantly by Adam Fox*.

Myszka is a Writer, Psychotherapist and Teacher.

In no particular order.

*Foxes’ Retreat offers a unique experience:

We open our home, periodically, to share our space with like-minded writing souls.

Whilst most people would never know, and see us as simply passionate and exuberant, the Foxes are both diagnosed autistic folk, with the addition of ADHD for Myszka.

Since realising this about ourselves, we take special care to measure out how much we commit to, balancing our own needs with those of our clients.

Self-care is paramount to us being able to offer what we do with such energy and delight.

Millie (pictured with Myszka above) is an Assistance Dog, allowing for all sorts of exciting adventures to unfold for Mrs Fox when she steps away from Foxes’ Retreat, as well as supporting us in our work here too.

Cwmafon Shadow, Myszka’s eight year old horse, works similarly, and their relationship has taken them to the British Dressage Associated Championships at Elementary level already, with lots more to come.

Animals are a part of our lives, so please do not ask to stay here for a day or more, if you cannot embrace them as part of the package. They do not go into The Hayloft Retreat area, but will be about the farmyard, kitchen and workshop room.

*For in person therapy sessions, the dogs are more than happy to lounge in the house, well away from client work, but for Day Retreats or Residential Retreats it would be unfair to lock them away from their usual routines - and they love people visiting us!

The Foxes’ vision is to create a bespoke experience for every person we work with, whatever the focus of their time with us:

We work with a beautiful community of people who regularly come together both online and in person.

Myszka’s work has been featured in Stylist magazine, an article on the work that Foxes’ Retreat does in the realm of Writing for Wellbeing .

We always welcome like-minded, creative people to join us, wherever they are on their personal journey of creativity, to share our space with The Foxes and their menagerie.

Foxes’ Retreat

Established in 2018

Creativity and Wellbeing

Foxes’ Retreat nestles in the English Peak District,

providing a relaxing and creative space for you to flourish.

Our promise to you…

Foxes’ Retreat will welcome you warmly, and you will leave nurtured, relaxed and re-energised for living your best life, whatever your personal focus for your stay may be.

Our genuine welcome into such a peaceful atmosphere will ensure that your mind is left free to unfold, unlock and release.

You will find an authentic, open and non-judgemental space in which you will be empowered to let go of life’s negatives, to take control of your own judgements, and to step into your very best self.

We welcome all respectful visitors wishing to stay with us, whether for a countryside break, a residential Retreat or a day workshop. You must be willing to share the house with all members of our family - we have two rescue cats and two dogs who live with us, as well as rescue chickens. Cats and dogs live in the main house, not in The Hayloft Retreat study bedrooms, but you will encounter them both in the farmhouse kitchen and out in the Workshop Room, where they love to lie on beds and watch us all writing!

We do not discriminate, on any grounds. Simples.

We live on the edge of the Peak District, where we have access to a wealth of inspirational locations, outstanding peace and quiet, and yet are only five minutes’ drive from the historic market town of Ashbourne. You will be able to walk out of our farm gates and off into the countryside, should you be looking for inspiration or a break from the written word.
