Arrive in time for a 10am start.

Freshly ground coffee or a range of teas will be ready for you anytime after 930am.

Your equipment will all be provided for making your linos, including your own tool kit to take home to carry on working with. There will be some practice fabric to play with before you print onto your own, if you would like to.

Please bring fabrics of your choice to print onto - 100% cotton gives the best outcome, but polycottons give interesting results to experiment with on the day. Melanie recommends that you bring some of each with you.

Melanie is the founder of the Upcycled Cloth Collective and We Love Lino Prints on Fabric facebook group, as well as the Upcycled Cloth Collective facebook group

Melanie Brummer is a lifelong textile enthusiast with a love for handmade finishes on fabric.

She started her career in textiles in the early 1990s when she sold hand dyed and printed garments at local markets.

In the 2000s she produced bespoke textiles for South African fashion designers, including Marianne Fassler and Sun Goddess; Melanie’s textiles graced the catwalks in South Africa and at New York Fashion Week with JJ Schoeman.

During the 2010s she travelled around Southern Africa teaching in craft schools, skills development centres, textile factories and fashion colleges, as well as publishing two books, Contemporary Dyecraft and 50 Silk Scarves.

In 2017 she founded the Up-Cycled Cloth Collective, a vibrant Facebook community with more than 200K members. This community was selected in 2022 to participate in the Facebook Community Accelerator Program and Melanie added a website, a magazine and an online course for the community.

Today she continues her personal teaching online through a library of online courses on a range of topics including textile dyeing, printing and up-cycling.
